Florida Atlantic University opened its doors in 1964 as the fifth public university in Florida. This holistically designed building, which also houses the offices of the USGBC South Florida Chapter, serves as an important showcase for "green" building and system design strategies and building management practices. “Engineering on display” is the theme exemplified throughout the building by way of touch-screen components allowing access to real-time data collected by sensors and online systems, which are infused into sustainability research projects and courses offered across the College and University.
