Membership -- Join Us!

Chapters are the local voice of the USGBC, and Chapter members are the grassroots keys to raising awareness about green building. Chapter membership also provides excellent networking opportunities; the chance to serve on committees and help shape our region’s future green efforts; and member-only discounts for Chapter members on the many educational events (including LEED training and seminars) that are hosted by the Chapter.

As with all USGBC Chapters, the South Florida group is a nonprofit (501[c][3]) organization. Our Branches hold monthly meetings and/or events for our members, in addition to hosting, per above, LEED workshops and other terrific educational opportunities. Another key ingredient is also found in abundance at Chapter and Branch meetings -- a great deal of fun and that very special camaraderie that exists when passionate individuals work together toward a common, worthwhile goal.

Any individual may join the Chapter either as a Member, an Associate Member or as an Emerging Green Builder. Membership dues for full membership status are in addition to the USGBC membership dues paid by an individual's company, organization, government employer or professional society. The USGBC dues structure can be found at the national website here. Once your firm has joined the USGBC, Chapter dues are only $50 (again, available only to individuals from USGBC-member companies). More than one employee of a USGBC member company or organization may become a Chapter member.

We also offer an Associate Chapter membership ($65) for individuals whose companies are not USGBC members. This membership category is meant to allow small, independent businesses and their individual employees to participate in our Chapter’s activities.  Associate members enjoy all member benefits except voting rights and eligibility for board elections (both of which require Full Membership with the USGBC).   

Lastly, our Chapter formed a regional Emerging Green Builders group, membership for which is $25. This group is essentially comprised of students and young professionals.

Annual Dues
Any individual may join the Chapter. The following is a breakdown of the membership categories:

• Chapter Member -- $50 -- Available only to individuals from USGBC-member companies. Chapter members enjoy all member benefits. More than one employee of a USGBC member company or organization may become a Chapter member.
• Associate Chapter Member -- $65 -- For individuals whose companies are not USGBC members. Associate members enjoy all membership benefits except voting rights and eligibility for Board elections.
• Emerging Green Builders -- $25 -- Must be enrolled in an accredited degree program or have less than five years of professional experience.
